Yongzheng Period Enamel-Gilt 'Longevity' Waterpot (Base Mark: "Made in the Great Qing Yongzheng Era")
Height: 5.5 cm
Mouth Diameter: 4.1 cm
Foot Diameter: 7.4 cm
This exquisite waterpot features a small-rounded lip rim, a seamless transition from neckless form to sloping shoulders, and a cylindrical body that slightly flares at the base to form a substantial ring foot. The fully glazed interior of the foot bears an underglaze blue six-character mark in standard script: "Made in the Great Qing Yongzheng Era," fired on kiln supports.
The piece displays exceptional craftsmanship with:
- A gilded band accentuating the lip rim
- Symmetric vermilion red lines framing both the mouth and foot
- Pink ruyi cloud motifs adorning the shoulders
- Four enamel-gilt longevity characters (寿) surrounded by floral designs in raised relief, creating remarkable three-dimensionality
The glaze exhibits:
- A flawless, jade-like smoothness
- Distinct vitreous luster
- Translucent quality over fine porcelain body
- Remarkable thinness of both body and glaze
Despite its modest size, this waterpot represents the pinnacle of Yongzheng imperial porcelain craftsmanship. The combination of enamel decoration, gilding, and underglaze blue mark - all executed with extraordinary precision - makes it a highly coveted collector's item, embodying the technical mastery and aesthetic refinement of the Yongzheng period's imperial kilns.
